Quality Assurance Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW: The QA Manager is responsible for safeguarding product safety and quality while meeting company and regulatory standards, and has oversight responsibility for a continuous quality improvement program that includes quality control and quality assurance. This person is responsible for ensuring that the production and distribution of products meets or exceeds all quality standards.
Ensure all quality standards and specifications are met or exceeded
Ensure proper sanitation procedures are utilized
Monitor compliance to accepted standards from receipt of raw milk and ingredients to shipments of finished products
Ensure products and processes are safe and meet regulatory requirements
HACCP coordinator; complete all HACCP records
SQF Practitioner
Main contact for Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, FDA, USDA
Troubleshoot quality issues
Maintain Master Cleaning and inspection program
Preform Environmental swabs and follow up
Maintain vitamin usage records
Maintain recall program
Train employees on Good Manufacturing Practices
Complete all records required by federal, state and local authorities
Must follow all FSMA, GMP, SQF, HACCP & Safety Policies and Procedures
Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner
Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices
Ability to creatively solve problems in a timely manner
Proficiency in communication with a wide range of personality types is needed to successfully deal with customers, employees, contractors, vendors and owners
Requires leadership aptitude and ability to motivate employees to excel in their jobs
Ability to work in a union environment
Counseling of employees when problems occur
Attendance at disciplinary sessions, monthly manager meetings and other meetings as needed
Must achieve and maintain Approved Sampler Permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
Must achieve and maintain PMO Appendix N lab analyst certificate
Must achieve and maintain IMS HACCP Certification
Must achieve and maintain SQF Certification
Must achieve and maintain FSMA Certification
Completion of Sensory Training
Trained in OSHA programs and best safety practices as required: which could include but not limited to; PPE, Respirator, Hazard Communications, Hearing Conservation, Lockout/ Tagout, Confined Spaces, Forklift, Emergency Evacuation
Ability to drive between plants
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Math skills including basic understanding of statistics
Must be able to work with others
Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively
Must be able to organize work
Must be able to maintain good relations with co-workers
Must maintain professional attitude
Bachelor degree in a science-based area of study such as; Food Science, Dairy Production, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology
5 years’ of experience preferred but not necessary
Knowledge of dairy equipment, how they work and troubleshooting problems desirable
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Previous supervisory experience desirable
Ongoing education of machinery, best practices, and OSHA regulations by attending classes or seminars
