Job Description: 

Tulkoff Food Products is currently seeking a Quality Control and Product Development Manager to organize, manage, and direct activities of the quality control laboratory. Manages and organizes plant programs in food safety, food/facility security, and product quality. Writes and maintains plant SOPs. Timely, consistent and accurate laboratory testing. Acceptable audit scores.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Troubleshoot production issues/deviations, raw material, packaging, labels etc. including delivery issues – reject / deviation etc.
  • Ingredient related issues ; out of spec, new vendor, quality and food safety etc. 
  • Hazard analysis/ risk assessments; document and create packet
  • Manage QC Laboratory, including Lab Tech
  • State Release of products; State related inquiries and issues
  • COA Verification, and preparation of COA's for customers
  • Maintain testing equipment, troubleshooting as necessary
  • Conduct Third Party, Product Hold and Release Program, Pesticide, and Heavy Metal testing
  • Environmental and Master cleaning programs
  • Conduct and document shelf life studies
  • GMP Weekly Inspection, follow ups and training when applicable
  • Oversee the Microbiological Program
  • Internal and external product related inquiries 
  • Label Compliance; FDA and Internal
  • Label related issues, including but not limited to: notifying customer/marketing, troubleshoot, resolve, and replace if necessary 
  • Ensure full compliance per vendor,  master register
  • QC Pending Tags – pH Control, Lab Testing, Issues etc
  • Label preparation for production
  • Inventory control
  • SIS Software/ Alchemy 
  • Digital Process Management (Internal Digital Specification Program)
  • Create, update, and change products in the ERP system
  • Non-GMO Project Submissions
  • Work with QA to ensure audit preparation and readiness 
  • Product Development
  • Submission to the CDPH
  • NPD Meeting
  • HACCP Team
  • Safety Committee
Qualifications: 
  • BS Food Science, Chemistry or related degree
  • Minimum of 2 years related QC experience (SQF and BRC)
  • Experience with writing and maintaining SOPs
  • Experience with analytical laboratory testing
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Independent, proactive, extremely detail oriented, dependable, organized and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while always remaining productive
  • Strong desire and ability to work in fast paced deadline orientated environment
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment by identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Must be able to communicate to and work well with multiple departments
