Job Description: 

DUTIES

  • Writes and maintains QA Manual on an annual basis
  • Works with 3rd party audit company to stay in compliance with food safety
  • Maintains a log of complaints received by customers
  • Directly manages QA Supervisors, QA Leads, and QA Technicians
  • Indirectly manages plant personnel from a GMP and safety standpoint
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SROD’s policies and applicable laws
  • Leads and manages food safety, QA/QC, and sanitation programs, including: HACCP,
  • Vendor Certifications, Product Specifications, Hold and Release, Certificates of
  • Analysis, Lot Tracking, Plant Walkthroughs, Sanitation Standard Operating
  • Procedures (SSOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Directs quality, safety, and GMP training programs for all departments
  • Manages QA/QC and sanitation operations/labor to meet operating budgets
  • Communicates with Plant Manager regarding production planning and issues
  • Recruits, hires, schedules, and trains QA Managers, QA Supervisors, and QA Technicians
  • Performs systems updating and delegates appropriate authority to the staff on the system
  • Directs microbiological laboratory operations and reporting
  • Disciplines workers as appropriate
  • Assumes responsibility for being the main contact for annual audits from third-party companies and customers
  • Meets with vendors as appropriate
  • Ensures that all products are produced consistent with SROD’s high quality standards, and that employees strictly adhere to SROD procedures
  • Ensures that facilities are maintained and all duties are performed in compliance with all applicable food safety standards and good manufacturing practices
  • Helps to develop solutions for improving product quality and production and resolves customer product quality issues with the involvement of R&D department
  • Develops and implements new procedures and policies as needed
  • Manages customer complaints and composes appropriate responses
  • Performs assignments in accordance with established GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand mechanized equipment as well as the dangers associated with them
  • Understands the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices which help ensure the safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s)

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance experience
  • Preferred manufacturing or mechanical background
  • Performs work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to multitask, and be detail-oriented
  • Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within a reasonable time
  • Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on the production floor
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrates good verbal communication skills
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to get to assigned shift on time
  • Must have a flexible schedule
  • Must be willing to work overtime
  • Must be able to read and write in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to successfully complete HACCP Certification

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in science or food science
