Peco is searching for a Quality Assurance Manager for our processing plant in Brooksville MS.

Summary Description:

  1. Direct supervisor of Quality Department staff, as well as assisting them in technical & professional development.
  2. Have a strong working knowledge of HACCP, Food Security, Animal Welfare, and BRC Standards.
  3. Be responsible for daily paperwork & people leadership including but not limited to: payroll, attendance, vacation, disciplinary action, recruiting/hiring, and professional development.
  4. Performs various special projects as assigned by the Corporate Director of QA & Food Safety and the Plant Manager, as well as drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout department and facility.
  5. Assists team in assorted projects beyond routine tests, including but not limited to: research product development, consultation visits to plant facilities, continuing education courses, perform special test/reports, and attending meetings.
  6. Comply with all written corporate safety and plant policies.
  7. Promotes good manufacturing practices & HACCP compliance. Maintain the highest possible level of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with plant GMP policies.
  8. Follow the written specification for packaging and labeling of products.
  9. Identify and report any suspicious situations to immediate supervisor or plant management official. Abnormal situation would be:
  10. Product tampering
  11. Willful product adulteration
  12. Unauthorized employees in restricted areas
  13. Situation where a belief that product adulteration may be occurring
  14. Equipment malfunction that may put product wholesomeness at stake

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  1. Working in a warm/wet/damp environment and a normal room temperature environment.
  2. Standing/sitting/walking 100% of the workday.
  3. Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

  1. 1-3 years leadership experience, preferably in a supervisory role in the poultry industry with lab experience.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Able to multi-task and prioritize.
  4. Must demonstrate successful supervisory skills, writing skills, creative & effective problem-solving skills, and basic knowledge of computers & related software.
  5. BS degree in Biological Sciences, Food Technology, Poultry Sciences, or closely related field preferred.
  6. Experience in a fast-paced environment.
