Quality Assurance Manager
Manage quality initiatives and programs. Ensure products meet or exceed customer requirements and support quality processes. Serve as the Product Safety Team Leader and must be HACCP trained.
Safety: Demonstrate personal and plant safety. Serve as the Product Safety Team Leader and collaborate with the product safety team. Exhibit a safety-first environment using personal protective equipment maintaining a safe, hazard-free workplace. Comply with workplace and product safety standards and procedures.
Quality: Develop a continuous improvement culture. Lead the quality program ensuring quality is built-in. Lead quality assurance specifications: handling procedures, paperwork requirements, data integrity compliance, product safety, and good manufacturing procedures.
Customer relationships: Support a customer-centric culture. Build relationships with customer manufacturing and shipping sites. Make customer visits as needed to address quality issues or support customer needs. Respond promptly to customer complaints.
External audits: Liaise with auditors. Work with management to ensure audit findings are promptly addressed.
Internal audits: Lead the plant’s internal audit team. Schedule required internal audits to ensure operations comply with SOP’s, quality policies, procedures and test methods. Conduct mock recall exercises per SOP. Perform product safety audits to ensure food safety compliance.
Corrective action: Manage the corrective action process for internal and external issues. Collaborate with operations to effectively correct quality issues.
Validation and change control: ensure compliance with validation and change control protocols and assist management with validation work for equipment, processes, products, and test methods.
Specification management: collaborate with commercial team on specification management processes including acquiring/creating specs for new product development and managing changes to existing customer specifications.
Communication: Represent quality in plant meetings. Regularly communicate quality results.
People: lead quality team and provide guidance to leadership team for daily plant quality operations. Assist with onboarding and associate training.
Performance: Support the plant’s quality management efforts by reporting quality KPI data and financial metrics as required by Corporate QA and Plant Operations Management.
Lean manufacturing: Work with operations to champion a lean culture by facilitating continuous improvement projects and Kaizen events.

Other: Regular and predictable attendance is required for the position with occasional out-of-state travel.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent and ISO and ASQ certifications preferred. HACCP Certification required.
- Five years quality assurance experience with proven success managing a quality assurance department.
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO/FSSC 22000 experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required including writing Excel formulas and creating pivot tables.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, budgets and financial statements.
- Experience planning, leading projects, prioritizing, delegating, and resolving problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
