The successful candidate will have an advanced degree (PhD, DVM, MD, or equivalent) with emphasis in the safety of foods, familiarity with food production and processing systems, experience working in food safety or related fields, demonstrated administrative skills, previous leadership role with faculty or instructors, and strong interpersonal skills. Other essential attributes include strong written and oral communication skills; experience engaging and fostering a collaborative and healthy work environment among diverse groups of faculty and/or food safety professionals, instructors, staff, and students. The MSU campus and the College of Veterinary Medicine are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their leadership, teaching, and service. Successful candidates must be committed to and have demonstrated excellence in working with diverse student and community populations.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience or understanding of the organizational aspects of online teaching and an understanding of its potential impact on the educational landscape.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with professional peers and colleagues, program stakeholders, general public, and students in relevant undergraduate, graduate, and professional fields of study. Also the ability to understand the scientific literature and to translate research findings into objective, understandable, and useful information for target clientele in food industry, food regulation, and academia.
The successful candidate should have excellent skills in networking and partnership development.
Some travel is required for this position.
