Kneaders is eager to fill the position of Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager at our main campus in Orem, UT. The qualified candidate will possess great creativity and will enjoy daily variety in their work.
Job Skills and Responsibilities:
The food safety professional we seek will have direct responsibility for maintaining onsite food safety and brand standards across the business. Duties will include training restaurant employees and management to maintain the highest standards of facility cleanliness, safety, guest experience and brand protection. The proper management of these programs will ensure our customers receive the highest quality product.
The successful candidate must be committed to a relentless pursuit of cleanliness, food safety and healthiness for our guests. Specific, desirable skills include:
Culinary Skills: The successful candidate will understand culinary and supply-chain processes that are related to food safety. They will know and seek out new innovations, benchmark developments, product/ food safety and product trends.
Decision Making: This job is best suited for individuals who are accustomed to making many time-sensitive decisions, with the goal of driving food safety and training standards throughout the organization. The job will include maintaining overall food safety/quality by cataloging site visits, internal audits, identifying areas for improvement and reviewing processes and ingredients related to food safety.
Management Skills: As the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager you will have an impact across all stores and locations. Travel to new and existing stores will be part of your scope. Management duties will vary and will include communication, motivation, teaching, and coaching of managers and front-line employees.
Communication: Professional communication, writing, and speaking are required. Ongoing documentation of food safety practices and policies. Research is vital.
Time-Management: The successful execution of this job also includes assisting with daily operational needs, especially during peak seasons, holidays and events. This job focuses on the preparation and preventative side of time management.
Duties & Skills:
Conduct food safety, brand standards, andother on-site evaluations at all locations, to assess workplace health and safety
Consult, educate and train employees on latest food safety, health, and sanitation practices
Assist and support management as needed
Become a NEHA Certified Professional in Food Safety (CP-FS)
Nights and weekends may be required occasionally.
This position requires climbing, walking, inspections in tight areas, indoor and outdoor analysis. Must be able to climb steep indoor and outdoor access ladders, etc.
Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (2 years)
Willing / able to travel overnight for business
Ability to lift 25lbs (infrequent requirement)
Experience in food safety or brand standards evaluations
ServSafe and/or CP-FS certification
Teaching/Coaching experience in a food-related field
Registered Environmental Health Specialist / Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) credential preferred
Strong relationship management capability
Strong planning and organizational skills and high attention to detail
Ability to work effectively without supervision, showing initiative, good judgment and superior decision-making skills
Problem-solving and analytical skills
Resourceful and continuous improvement focus
Experience in state or local inspections as an inspector a plus

This job operates in a professional office environment, in kitchens and in the field. This role will place you in and around kitchen equipment and office features including ovens, mixers, slicers and high volume equipment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is an active role, requiring the ability to lift heavy objects, bending, standing, stooping, and walking, with or without the carrying of objects. Must be available to work varying shifts between the hours of 6 am – 5 pm, sometimes later.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Depending on the project and scheduled completion dates, the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager may be required to travel locally and out of state to meet goals and store opening requirements and to perform inspections.
Required Education and Experience
Formal training in food safety. Bachelor's degree with at least two (2) years' experience in foodservice operations; OR Associate's degree and four (4) years' experience in foodservice operations
Must have a minimum of five (4) years in food safety, food inspection or restaurant quality control.
