R & D Kitchen Assistant
Entry level position responsible for assisting the Research & Development team in the cooking and execution of departmental projects. Performs routine functions such as collecting ingredients for preparation of batches, portioning ingredients, assisting Chefs and other R&D team members, as well as maintaining the kitchen and adhering to performance and sanitation standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
- Gather and portion ingredients
- Responsible for kitchen sanitation. Ensure R&D Kitchen is clean and organized, and overseeing checklist for cleaning needs
- Stocks and maintains material list to be used in R&D Kitchen
- Follows all Company rules, including, but not limited to SOPs, GMPs, Safety, and all rules prescribed by USDA and FDA.
- Checks raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing and finished products for safety and quality.
- Assists in the testing of new products for flavor, texture, color, viscosity, etc.
- Assists in product demonstrations to management and customers as required.
- Assists in the collection and verification of ingredients for new recipes.
- Assists R & D Team in product development functions.
- Perform other duties of similar nature or level.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.

- Other duties as assigned.
Decisions for this position are made within company policy constraints. The position encounters diverse work situations and can involve a high degree of complexity. The position operates from well know procedures. This individual is expected to work with minimal supervision.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES -
This position is not supervisory in nature.

- R&D Team Chefs
- Operations Managers and Production Leads
- QA Manager
- Departmental Directors
- Sales and Marketing
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS -
The position requires the individual to have culinary training and/or experience. The individual must have excellent decision making, interpersonal, team work skills. The individual must have the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment. Additionally this person must be able to look at systems for process improvement and best practices creation.Ability to read, write and understand English required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE -
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Restaurant, catering, culinary school or food manufacturing experience required.
