Food Safety and Quality Compliance Coordinator - Document Specialist

Job Description: 

This position is responsible for maintaining supplier approval verification documents, instigating and storing CAPAs, auditing the production document review process, and managing all the quality department KPIs. This position would be a fill in for middle level leadership vacations as needed.
 
Responsibilities
 
Essential Functions
  •     Collect, approve, and house all supplier and ingredient documentation on a DMS
  •     Contact suppliers for missing and expired paperwork
  •     Contact suppliers for R&D trial paperwork and work closely with R&D and procurement to ensure this is expedited
  •     Set-up new suppliers and items in NetSuite Inventory Management system
  •     Ensure that all suppliers are FSMA compliant and that risk assessments are completed on all of them
  •     Follow-up with suppliers on ingredient or packaging issues
  •     Follow-up with production and quality for all internal corrective action reports
  •     Submit corrective action and Food Safety maintenance
  •     Ensure team is following up on all quality holds and complete dispositions on corrective action reports
  •     Ensuring that documentation required for GFSI and Regulatory compliance, including EMP programs are maintained.
  •     Complete all KPIs for hold waste, complaints, FPQ, and corrective actions
  •     Participate in appropriate meetings
  •     Train new QA and leaders on the corrective action process
  •     Train techs and leaders how to complete document review
  •     Audit reviewed folders for compliance
  •     Create and manage all quality line documentation
  •     Create SOPs and OPLs to help train and outline new procedures
  •     Be a contributing member/leader of the Food Safety Team, including collaboration with layered and internal audit programs.
  •     Understand the Quality Supervisor and Lab tech roles to adequately cover vacations
Work environment
  • This position operates in a professional office environment and within in the manufacturing operation.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and other office equipment.
  • All required GMP and PPE for plant operational safety is expected to be used.
  • Position requires ability to communicate and work well with peers.
Qualifications
 
Required Education and Experience
 
Required:  
  •     Bachelor’s Degree in food science or related science
  •     Minimum of Two (2) years of QA experience in a food facility or food internship program.
Preferred
  •     HACCP/GFSI certification
  •     PCQI certification
  •     Experience in a 24-hour manufacturing facility in quality or food safety

Supervisory Responsibility
 
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
 
Physical Demands
 
Intermittently required lift up to 20 pounds.  Periodically required to stand and walk and reach with hand and arms. Uses a computer keyboard and monitor of to 75% of the time. Position requires work in a cross-functional capacity with all departments in the manufacturing facility.
