Job Description: Plans and coordinates activities concerned with program development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for beverage manufacturing processes by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Develops and coordinates Quality System programs, practices and documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards, including quality manuals, HACCP Program, Master Cleaning Schedule, Pest Control Program, GMPs, Allergen Control Program, SQF, and Company quality records.Serves as primary SQF Practitioner for Howey facility.Sits on HACCP team and ensures HACCP and SQF compliance through CCP and SSOP document review, process and product review, monthly auditing, and maintenance of deviation records and practices.Reviews analytical and production records, including but not limited to, analytical logs, blender logs, brix logs, case check logs, CIP charts, trending of pre-requisite program verification/validation data, conducts verifications/validations of pre-requisite programs, and weight graphs to ensure quality compliance.Assists in the coordination, preparation for, and administration of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) audits, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) audits, Health Department Inspections, SQF audit and any other quality/food safety audits performed by 3rd Parties.Initiates and oversees monthly auditing compliance including self-assessments, mock recall initiation and review, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SQF, and Quality Systems Assessment (QSA) audits.Develops the agenda and leads weekly Food Safety Quality and HACCP meetings and initiates follow up actions and communications, once implemented.Reviews and maintains Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Drum Tag Logs to ensure compliance.Monitors and administers the Company’s Hold Program, including Process Holds, Trend Analysis, and maintenance and review of the Hold Log.Monitors and administers the Company’s Corrective Action Program, including maintenance and review of the Corrective Action Log, once implemented.Administers and maintains quality related annual licensing in a competent and timely manner.Coordinates shipments of sample requests.Assists with new product commissioning.Serves as primary backup in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager and as secondary backup in the absence of Quality Assurance Technicians, and any other lab coverage as needed.Presents Food Safety, Food Quality and Food Defense Training to employees during new hire orientation period.Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and completes work in timely manner.Possesses familiarity with basic chemistry, food science, and microbiologyFollows policies and procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions.Assist with complaint investigations and trend analysis.Assists with special projects in the Quality Assurance Department.Creates and reconciles blend sheets.Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Focus areas will be on developing knowledge and skills in the areas of Food Security Monitoring, Master Cleaning Schedule, and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs.Able to make sound decisions based on specifications, procedures, and experience.Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.Writes and speaks clearly and informatively and able to read and interpret written information.Displays good interpersonal skills and is self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervisionIs consistently at work and on time and commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.Possesses the Skills and Knowledge, and is able to meet the Physical Demands and perform in the work environment described in the Work Environment section below. Supervisory Responsibilities This job is subject to secondary supervisory activities in the event of Manager absence. A.) from four-year college or university in food science, food technology, chemistry or related field, and one to three years experience in a Food or Beverage Manufacturing Quality Assurance role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software (Excel) and Word Processing software (Word) and Database software (Access).
