Job Description: 

Primary responsibility is to maintain that Safe Quality Food Level 3 is in compliance with customer, Federal Drug Administration (FDA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans including USDA and FDA regulatory standards.

Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Involved in the design, development, coaching, training and administration of environmental, health and safety systems and programs with single site responsibility.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Compliant with HACCP and  OSHA guidelines
  • Adherence to Safe Quality Foods standards as well as all applicable quality standards
  • Tracking ingredient and product (Traceability – Lot Tracking)
  • Supplier certification verification
  • Measuring process control and adherence to specifications
  • Measuring controls for the environment
  • Labeling products and shipping finished goods
  • Assuring quality programs are followed at all times without exceptions
  • Calibrates scales as required
  • Pulls retain samples from lots
  • Maintain and initiate all recordkeeping and key performance indicators pertinent to the Quality Department and SQF to include, but not limited to Food Safety, Sanitation, Regulatory Agencies (USDA and FDA), internal customers and external customers
  • Daily monitors of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and verifying compliance by all employees and other personnel in the processing facilities
  • Verify of coolers and freezer room temperature for compliance
  • Perform environmental swabs and microbiological sampling, submittal to local laboratory for analysis as needed
  • Obtain egg samples to verify compliance to specification
  • Assist the complex manager in specific training and daily initiatives addressing quality, food safety, and sanitation issues to drive process improvements
  • Conduct work station inspections to verify compliance (specs, sanitizer, temperatures, HACCP documentation, pre-op set-up)
  • Conduct inspection checks (pH, concentrations, temperatures, checks, dirties, etc.)
  • Verify SQF logs and other documents are accurately completed on a daily basis
  • Create charts, trending reports, training materials and visuals
  • Maintain, monitor standards and train employees in compliance to the SQF Standards and USDA requirements
  • Train hourly employees as needed
  • Orchestrates the administration of biological monitoring procedures to determine the efficacy of sanitation methods.
  • Monitors employee practices to aid in a pest-free environment
  • Develops and implements new methods, procedures, and systems to improve quality performance
  • Supervises operation to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulation, as well as Company food safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Develops and maintains quality procedures as well as food safety-related training programs that support key performance goals for the Company
  • Supervises operations to maintain a SUPERIOR rating in SQF
  • Encourage and maintain high employee involvement in safety and health systems including OSHA requirements
  • Conducts EHS program training for new hires and organize annual training. Develop and conduct new training programs as needed
  • Conduct incident investigations including “root cause analysis” for corrective action
  • Perform worksite and incident trend analysis to sustain a comprehensive system for hazard prevention and control
  • Leadership role to maintain a vibrant environmental, health and safety training program
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy, procedures and manuals
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and
  • regulations that impact the organization
  • Serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies
  • Maintains SDS program
  • Manage security subcontractor(s) safety guidelines as needed

Qualifications: 
  • Ability to work in cold environment (<40*F) at times
  • Ability to work with minimum to no supervision, act in liaison of the Supervisor, self-starter, and problem solver
  • Ability to lift/push a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an agricultural environment with poultry
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Basic Technical Writing Skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic micro techniques (aseptic sampling, dilutions, plating)
  • Ability to read and interpret micro results
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
Education: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
