JOB FILLED - Quality Control Manager

Job Description: 

Job Summary:   The Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing the day to day implementation and execution of food safety and quality activities within our manufacturing facilities, involving all stakeholders in the field to ensure the satisfaction of our customers, certifiers, and regulators.   The QC Manager ensures all relevant quality and regulatory requirements are met for products and processes.   The QC Manager also provides direct supervision to Quality Supervisors, and manages, directs, and develops Quality staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    Guarantee the quality of each process in order to satisfy both the internal and external customer.   Anticipate and recommend changes to enable the factories to deliver well the first time, every time

    Ensure the planning, the accompaniment of the operational implementation of new projects

    Facilitate communication and ensure necessary remedial actions to address any gaps which contribute to poor quality.

    To ensure the motivation of staff; provide satisfaction, support a dynamic atmosphere and spirit of cooperative improvement.

    Guarantees the compliance and optimization of the quality Management system to improve its efficiency and meet the requirements of third parties (e.g. BRC), customers and consumers.

    Active in implementing the quality (procedures, instructions, records) documents and ensures their compliance with the company's quality system.

    Offers and supports the continuous improvement of processes related to production: use of indicators, communication, and management of corrective and preventive actions.

    Develops the use of quality dashboards and management tools of high quality which are the basis to point’s weekly quality and management reviews.

    Actively contributes to the measurement of performance and quality, time or cost of service.

    Actively contributes to the improvement of the performance of the production processes.

    Involve staff in the problem-solving process / search for conditions contributing to nonconformance’s and the identification of solutions to produce product within standards.

    Track the incidents and anomalies which are detrimental to the performance of the plant.

    Openly seek to find a competitive advantage through innovations which could improve the positioning of the company.

    Offers a service organization adapted to the needs and objectives of service.

    Evaluate staff to ensure the adequacy of skills with the needs of the service.

    Coordinates and verifies the deployment and update of the approach in the plant (implementation, audit, corrective and preventive actions, participation in the HACCP study design followed, actions of internal training hygiene, allergens,...).  Provide input to the HACCP Committee for any changes planned or in process that might affect the HACCP plan

    Work with Process Engineers to perform reviews of proposed changes, ensuring that the HACCP method is considered and reviews are provided to the HACCP Team.

    Participates in the internal audit function (processes, practices and hygiene-security) in collaboration with the Tech Services Manager.  Work closely with production and operations management in order to put actions in place against any identified gaps or nonconformities.

    Assists with carrying out external audits (customer, regulatory, third party).

    Drive corrective actions to maintain client approvals or certifications, and work closely with each department manager to ensure that the actions are well implemented and effective.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    B.S. in Food Science, Biology, or Chemistry

    Five to ten years food safety and quality supervisory experience in a food or beverage facility.

    Knowledge of SPC, HACCP, USDA, FDA, Organic certification, Global Standards for Food Safety/BRC requirements, sanitation practices.

    Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Accuracy with detail, planning, organizing and efficiency.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills. (For example, ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, managers and employees.)

    Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.  (For example, must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.)

    Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    Demonstrated ability to successfully set goals, create employee communications and demonstrate effective leadership behavior.

    Experienced team builder and participant.

    Ability to handle pressure of dealing with priorities that change frequently and have very short time frames without losing composure.

    Ability to work a flexible work schedule as needed.

Working Environment:  This job works in both office and production environments.  The incumbent will be exposed to long periods of sitting in an office, walking and standing in the factories, as well as occasional exposure to loud noises from moving industrial equipment.
